I am writing a biography of Rickie – a prison inmate who spent many years at war with the prison system. Instead of doing 3 years or so and getting out, he added 300 years of sentences trying to kill officers and other inmates. He was described in court testimony as the “most violent man in ______ prisons” and had a special cell block (called “Super Segregation”) built to try to control him and the worst of some gang inmates.

17 years ago Rickie became a Christian in his cell and changed completely. He has had no infractions. However, life has been extremely difficult. His gang buddies could not let him live because he rejected them, also he knew their business. Other inmates challenge and test him to make a name for themselves. And on the other side, the wardens and officers hate him because he hated them. He is still mistreated.

Now, miraculous circumstances mean he has the possibility of making parole in 2008. There are many dramatic twists and turns in his story: being born and adopted on Christmas Day, being in one of the largest prison systems in the country during a period of chaos and turmoil and becoming administered by a federal judge, and many more.

I have written the first 7 chapters and a description of the rest of the story. Now, I want to find a publisher who can help guide the project.

I have never written a book, but I have written news stories and documentaries for commercial television and for 28 years produced television programs – mostly documenting reality – including a 1 hour documentary each year for 12 years that aired on one of the 3 major networks. I have 2 Emmy nominations for the scripts of 2 of those shows.

I have no idea if this is anything that relates to “Author Insight” but thought I would ask.

    Thanks
