You ought to get 8,000 hits on this subject! I will be back to visit.
I am a semi-retired doc working on a book project. It is at least two years away.
My agent recommended I start a blog three months ago as writing exercise and to start to communicate with web bloggers with similar interests. My passions reflected in the blog are family, medicine, and bluegrass music.
So far, the blog has been great fun. I’ve gotten 3000+ hits and made a bunch of new friends.
Any constructive criticism or insight you would like to offer will be much appreciated.
I’ll be back to visit.

Nice blog, Dr. B! You give excellent advice about writing in your second post about agents. Self-Editing for Fiction Writers is one of my favorite resources. Let me know when your book–or any other project you have going–is ready for promotion and I’ll post it here.
I have to say–you are the first doctor/bluegrass enthusiast I’ve ever met.

Hey, thanks. My agent asked me who my book might appeal to. I told him I had done an extensive market analysis, and my survey indicates every doctor in the country who plays bluegrass mandolin was going to buy my book- I’m talking 100%.
Only problem was there were only five!
I told him not to despair, the foreign survey was still pending, and he would get 20% of that as opposed to only 15% U.S.

Kathy,
I wish I had seen this blog two weeks ago. I have been so excited that I signed a contract. I wrote a great book and it was picked up five days after I submitted it. I am just sick now though since I read what you wrote about PublishAmerica——I though it was a good publishing company. Do you have any advise for me? Thanks so much for this blog, Kathy. You are wonderful! Keep up the great work.
